The Mountain View Alliance Welcomes OCAF
(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 05, 2006 ) Mountain View, CA – The Mountain View Alliance (MVA), a consortium of open specification development organizations today welcomed its newest member – the Open Communications Architecture Forum (OCAF) is a focus group of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). OCAF’s charter is to agree on sets of open specifications for Next Generation Network equipment.
“OCAF welcomes the opportunity to work with the MVA to accelerate the creation of NGN Solutions using COTS components based on the standards called out by the Carrier Grade Open Environment (CGOE)” said Bob Withrow of Nortel, the Chair of OCAF.
Brian Holden, the Optical Internetworking Forum’s representative to the MVA, added: “Through its CGOE reference model, OCAF provides an important view of open architecture platforms; they will be a valuable addition to the MVA.”
The Mountain View Alliance promotes an environment for coexistence and compatibility among specification organizations so that real applications can be created from commercial off the shelf (COTS) building blocks. The group is making significant progress in harmonizing marketing messages and activities and well as facilitating communications among member organizations. The group’s founding members have been holding regular meetings since December 2004.
