PR News Names Winners of Platinum Pr Awards

(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 12, 2004 ) NEW YORK – The winners of this year’s PR News Platinum PR Awards show by example that public relations goes well beyond getting ink. From a community relations program that repaired homes of employees deployed to Iraq to a battle of the bands to change the tune about multicultural relations, the Platinum PR Award recipients have effectively raised the bar on communications excellence.

More than 200 PR professionals celebrated the winners at PR News’ Awards luncheon at the Grand Hyatt in New York. The Platinum PR Awards recognize the top PR campaigns in more than 20 key areas that run the gamut: crisis communication to measurement to media relations. Also recognized at the event were the winners of PR News’ PR People Awards, recognizing the outstanding communicators of 2004.

Among the winning campaigns was Ogilvy PR’s “Heart Truth” campaign, which took home the most honors – first place in the marketing communications and media relations categories and an honorable mention for best media event. Its fully integrated campaign was effectively designed as a “wake-up call to women” about heart disease. Other campaigns scored first place on modest budgets, such as the DFW Airport Bond Sale Campaign (on a budget of $2,500), which won in the category of Financial/Investor Relations.

Emceed by PR News Editor Matthew Schwartz, the awards luncheon featured as the keynote speaker PR legend Howard Rubenstein, founder and president of Rubenstein Associates.

Profiles of the award winners appear in the Oct. 4 All-Stars issue of PR News. See list of winners below; for the list of the honorable mentions, please go to www.prnewsonline.com. Sponsors of the PR News luncheon include BurrellesLuce, NAPS, News Generation, KD Paine & Partners, Medialink, Porter Novelli, PR Newswire and Stanton Communications.
