(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 27, 2005 ) Paris – Sensitive Object™ (www.sensitive-object.com), the company that pioneers with a revolutionary technology based on the “time reversal acoustics” process, is pleased to announce that Piero Martinotti has accepted to join Sensitive Object’s Board of Directors.

Piero Martinotti began his working career at SGS as Application and Marketing Engineer. In 1968 he moved to Motorola Semiconductors with the responsibility of Strategic Marketing for Europe, and in 1975 he became Marketing (Sales) Director for Europe.
He held this position until 1979, when he left Motorola to join Weber Carburatori, a company belonging to the Fiat Group, as Managing Director.

In March 1981 he was back to the semiconductor world and to SGS to take the responsibility of the growing MOS Division which he kept till October 1985, when he became Corporate Director for Technology and Strategy.

In April 1986 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer in Innovative Silicon Technology, the ASIC company belonging to the SGS Group, a position he kept through the creation of the SGS-THOMSON Microelectronics, the international semiconductor Group born in 1987 as a result of the merger of Thomson Semiconducteurs and SGS Microelettronica.

In November 1990, Piero Martinotti was called back to the Corporation, to take charge of Corporate Strategic Planning of SGS-THOMSON Microelectronics, which changed its name to STMicroelectronics in May 1998. In this position, he was at the heart of the growth of the Group till it posted a symbolic net profit in 1992 first, and then a substantial one in 1993.

When, in April 1994, the Company decided to enter the standard microprocessor market under its own name, Piero Martinotti was appointed General Manager of the New Ventures Group, a unit created to identify and evaluate new opportunities to lead ST into new business segments.

Piero ultimately conceived, planned and guided the spin-off of an internal biometric Business Unit, into UPEK, a fabless corporation of USA, in the Fingerprint Biometric Recognition System arena.
Piero Martinotti is currently still advisor to STMicroelectronics, and board member in UPEK.
