Mountain View Alliance Announces 2008 Communications Event and Keynotes
MVA Members Set Sights on South San Francisco Conference Center in March
(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 21, 2007 ) Mountain View, CA - Following a highly successful inaugural event in Southern California this past February, the Mountain View Alliance will take its MVA Communications Ecosystem Conference (MVACEC) to the South San Francisco Conference Center on March 11 and 12, 2008 and will feature two innovative Keynote presentations by the CTO of Ericsson and the CTO of Nokia Siemens Networks.
The MVA, a consortium of open specification organizations in the communications industry, is excited to welcome Mr.
Håkan Eriksson, CTO with Ericsson and Mr. Stephan Scholz, CTO, Nokia Siemens Networks as the Opening Keynote speakers. The MVACEC is an annual conference and exhibition that brings together suppliers and customers at all levels of the supply chain from the entire commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) ecosystem.
In addition, the MVA is pleased to announce four industry leaders as its technical co-chairs of the event: Timo Jokiaho, Head of Platform Industry Initiatives at Nokia Siemens Networks; Magnus Karlson, Expert in Open Systems Software Architecture at Ericsson AB; Mark Kent, Head of Technology Strategy with British Telecom; and Paul Steinberg, Chief Architect of Motorola’s telecommunications wireless infrastructure products.
“MVACEC ’08 is an important conference focusing on the issues surrounding the evolution of COTS implementations in the telecommunication and wireless infrastructure. It will address both the business and technical issues of adopting COTS-based systems and is the only conference that brings together all the players in the communications infrastructure ecosystem to discuss the adoption of open specifications based equipment,” said Mark Kent, Head of Technology Strategy for BT.
In a statement from Jorge Magalhaes, Motorola’s Director of Marketing, Embedded Communications Computing summing up the inaugural event, “We were most impressed by the broad spectrum of service providers, network equipment providers and communications vendors represented by both the speakers and on the associated panels. There was a high level of engagement in the breakout sessions, which significantly contributed to the overall experience.”
The Mountain View Alliance members include: the Communications Platforms Trade Association (CP-TA), the Linux Foundation (LF), Open Communication Architecture Forum (OCAF), Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF), PICMG, RapidIO, SCOPE Alliance, and the Service Availability Forum (SA Forum).
