Forgotten Coast Restaurant to be Auctioned

Landmark Restaurant Auction Set for November 6, 2006

(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 15, 2006 ) Crawfordville, Wakulla County, FL -- Auctioneer Dr. Joe Abal has sampled everything on the menu at Forgotten Coast, the well known seafood restaurant on the outskirts of Crawfordville along heavily traveled U.S. 319, the main road to the Wakulla / Franklin County Coast. Now he’s being asked to auction the restaurant where he has become a regular, along with all its equipment. It’s a bittersweet task. “I’ve enjoyed many a meal here and I’ve entertained friends and business associates here also,” says Abal, who, with business partner Betty Evans will be handling the auction of the restaurant. “It’s different to see the place up for sale,” Abal says, “but my role now is to represent the owners to the best of my ability and work to maximize the fair market value for this property.”

The Forgotten Coast, a much heralded restaurant, is host to hundreds of seafood lovers each weekend and has gotten rave reviews from numerous food critics, both informal and formal – such as Ashby Stiff of the Tallahassee Democrat. Its volume of business and legions of satisfied diners have made it an institution and a “must stop” destination for those going to or coming from the coast. Owners John and Leslie Cole have turned their restaurant venture into a success, rivaling several other well-known area dining spots each weekend.

“We have enjoyed having Joe as a regular customer. He knows us and knows the quality of this restaurant and the quality of the clientele we have built. He’ll do a great job of representing us and getting the maximum for us in the auction,” says John Cole.

Abal and Evans are gearing up for the auction by creating a comprehensive information package (Property Information Package) available to all bidders. The information package is a complete disclosure of all factors known to the auctioneer, answering bidder questions and placing them in the most informed position possible. “In 2005 real estate auctions across the nation did $260 billion in business,” Abal notes. “It’s a growing trend in commercial and residential property.”

Abal is optimistic that the restaurant will bring an impressive price, reflective of its fair market value and that things will go on as before. “If I do my job right, we will have a win-win situation,” he said. “The current owners will receive good value on their investment and the new owners will be prepared to move forward successfully. Who knows? I might continue to dine on great seafood at the very same location in the near future.”
