Addmaster Breaks Ground on Building In California's Monrovia Tech Corridor
(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 19, 2001 ) Addmaster, Corp., a manufacturer of teller receipt and validation printers for the financial industry, announced the commencement of phase two of the Addmaster Complex in Monrovia, Calif. Phase one was an 18,000 square foot manufacturing facility built in 1998 adjacent to the site of phase two. Both buildings are on land acquired from the Monrovia Redevelopment Agency. "It will be a very attractive building - two story, 16,500 square foot office/warehouse complete with marble and glass," said Hugh Clary, vice president of Addmaster Corporation. The facility will be fully operational in May. "Monrovia is becoming a miniature Silicon Valley," said Glenn Cox, assistant executive director of redevelopment for the Monrovia Redevelopment Agency, "and we've been dubbed the high tech center of San Gabriel Valley. The high tech corridor of Monrovia has been in development for 27 years. The Addmaster building will be the last one completed in the corridor and a nice finishing touch." In addition to Addmaster, the area is home to other innovators such as AeroEnvironment, started by Paul MacCready, Engineer of the Century; and SeeBeyond, the fastest growing company in Los Angeles County. Taisei Construction Corporation, a subsidiary of one of Japan's largest builders, is constructing the complex. Taisei is responsible for projects that include Japan's tallest building, the 70-story Landmark Tower Yokohama; the west Passenger Terminal Building at Tokyo (Haneda) International Airport; and the Sheraton Torrey Pines Hotel in San Diego, California. The leasing agent handling the new facility is Kevin Duffy with CB Richard Ellis of Glendale, California.
