Teva’s sales in Europe in the quarter rose 10 percent in local currency terms from a year earlier to $811 million, despite government measures to rein in healthcare spending.

Allos Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:ALTH) plunged 15.26% to $4.83 on a volume of 7.48 million shares. The company today reported its financial results and business highlights for the quarter and six months ended June 30, 2010. Allos reported a net loss of $20.0 million and $40.5 million, or $0.19 and $0.39 per share for the quarter and six months ended June 30, 2010, respectively. Total operating costs and expenses for the second quarter of 2010 were $27.9 million, including stock-based compensation expense of $2.8 million.
UnitedHealth Group Inc. (NYSE:UNH) decreased 1.46% to $30.33 with over 7.98 million shares. The company posted higher-than-expected quarterly profit on Wednesday on better performance of its health plans for small businesses and it raised its full-year outlook, the latest in a string of strong second-quarter earnings reports for U.S. health insurers.
