Dallas, Tx - Despite the massive fall in the US markets, several retail stocks moved higher Thursday after companies reported stronger than expected Sales for the month of January.
99 Cents Only Stores ( NYSE:NDN) was the biggest percentage gainer and moved up 6% to $14.15 after the company reported a 2.3% increase in net consolidated sales for the third quarter of fiscal 2010, and increased consolidated gross profit to $154.9 million from $142.8 million in the third quarter of the prior fiscal year.

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (NYSE:ANF) surged 4% to $33.21 after posted a surprise increase of 8% in the latest month, when analysts were calling for an 8.4 percent drop.

Macy's, Inc. (NYSE:M) jumped 2.65% to $16.67 after its January sales rose 3.40% versus the analysts estimates of flat sales.

The Gap Inc. (NYSE:GPS) shares gained 2.50% to $19.48 after it reported stronger than expected January sales data. Its January sales rose 5%, while analysts were expecting 4.40%.
