(NASDAQ:SMTL) jumped up over 30.83% to close at $10.99 after Applied Materials, Inc. and Semitool, Inc. announced a definitive agreement for Applied to acquire the outstanding shares of Semitool for $11 per share in an all-cash tender offer. Under terms of an agreement approved by the boards of directors of both companies, Applied Materials will pay an aggregate purchase price of approximately $364 million based on the fully diluted capitalization of Semitool.

Anchor BanCorp Wisconsin Inc. (NASDAQ:ABCW) climbed up over 47.54% to end the day at $0.900 after the company yesterday announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement for the sale of 11 AnchorBank branches in Northwestern Wisconsin to Royal Credit Union of Eau Claire, Wis. Under the terms of the agreement, RCU will assume approximately $177 million in deposits and receive a corresponding amount in loans, real estate, and other assets.

Zoom Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:ZOOM) surged over 3.26% to close at $8.24 o after the company yesterday upwardly revised its fiscal 2009 revenue guidance to between $185 and $195 million and net income to between $6.0 and $6.2 million, as compared to previous guidance of $145 and $155 million in revenue and $5.9 and $6.1 million in net income. The Company now expects fiscal 2010 net income to be in the range of $10.75 to $11.25 million on an adjusted basis, which are prior to deductions from non-cash equity based compensation charges.
