Dr. Shumake has organized a fundraiser as he challenges our community leaders to look beyond the current financial crisis and consider the needs of the less fortunate.

The Shumake Leadership Challenge fundraiser will be held in Detroit on October 17, 2009. This is a good time to complete your fall cleaning projects; clean out closets and storage areas. Mr. Shumake is looking for donations of new or gently used clothing and books, unopened over-the-counter medications, soap, shampoo and other toiletries. School supplies and carpentry tools are also needed.

Those who bring in a donation will be entered into a raffle to win an X-Box 360 or a $500 gift card. So, complete fall cleaning in time for the holidays, get into the holiday spirit of giving, and feel good about the opportunity to help relieve the financial stress of the less fortunate. At the same time you may realize your own stressful financial situation is not so much of a burden.
