TREASURY DEPARTMENT AND GOVERNOR OF KANSAS TO HIGHLIGHT RECOVERY ACT PROGRESS
Officials to Host Events in Rural Kansas and Topeka, Discuss Affordable Housing Development Program
(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 27, 2009 ) WASHINGTON – As part of an effort to highlight the local impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act), on Thursday, June 30, 2009, Treasury Deputy Secretary Neal Wolin will travel to Kansas and join Kansas Governor Mark Parkinson to discuss Recovery Act funding that is spurring the development of affordable housing units, creating jobs and rebuilding vibrant, thriving neighborhoods and communities throughout the state.
In addition, the Deputy Secretary will announce more than $85 million in housing funds for five additional states.
The Deputy Secretary and Governor will visit Woodland Hills, a housing development in Osawatomie that would not have been completed without funds from the Recovery Act. The site visit will be followed by a press availability at the State Capitol in Topeka, where the two will discuss how the Recovery Act has increased economic development throughout Kansas.
