(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 16, 2009 ) West Bloomfield, MI – Local Author, Lori Purdy Faitel, will be visiting local café’s, libraries and schools, to present her recently published book, “Am I Brain Damaged?” The book is a compilation of writings she did while recovering from a closed-head injury which left her in a coma for 7 days. When she awoke, Lori had to learn how to walk and talk all over again; it was as if she were an infant in a 25 year old body.
Lori will offer her book to local libraries as educational material for families, friends and caretakers of people who are recovering serious head injuries. In a recent interview, Lori said, “In reading my updated memoirs I hope to enlighten everyone to the internal trials and confusion of one particular head-injured person, me, Lori Ann Purdy-Faitel.”
Lori recently spoke to a high-school psychology class about her story; she hopes that schools and colleges will incorporate her book into their curriculum as well, to educate medical students about the challenges that victims of serious head injuries face as they recuperate.
Lori feels truly blessed to have mainstreamed back into normal life. Her goal in publishing this book is to increase the awareness of care givers and anyone involved with someone who suffers from a serious head injury. Lori encourages her head-injured colleagues to find their own level of comfort and to live the best life they can.
