TPSA Study Reveals Landmark Results for Education Services
TPSA survey establishes the industry’s first benchmarks for embedded technology education services.
(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 09, 2009 ) SAN DIEGO, CA, March 9, 2009 – The Technology Professional Services Association (TPSA) today announced the results of its Education Services Study, a member investigation administered by TPSA, with members of its sister associations, AFSMI and SSPA, invited to participate as well. The survey sets a monumental precedent, establishing operational and financial benchmarks for embedded technology education services for the first time. The record number of respondents provides a clear indication of how eager technology companies are to have access to actual industry data to help them optimize and align their customer education and training services businesses.
The findings in this report reveal the fact that there is greater variance of results and diversity of practices in education services than is typically seen in a professional services environment. TPSA believes that part of the explanation for this stems from the fact that compared to professional services, education services represents a dramatically smaller share of company revenue on average. This simple economic fact corresponds to trends around practices and results that must be analyzed in their own context.
“We believe that it is partly for all of these reasons that we see such strong evidence of a disconnect between stated education services charters, on the one hand, and how education services organizations actually operate and perform, on the other hand,” stated Bo Di Muccio, Ph.D., senior director of TPSA Research and Advisory Services. “This study is a clear indication that education services managers need to carefully examine the primary role and mission of their businesses and align practices as well as expectations about operations and financial results accordingly,” Di Muccio added.
