February 23 New York City Workshop Teaches Managers and Professionals How to Think Better About Tough Issues in a Tough Economy

Managers and professionals need to concentrate, re-orient, and think through issues -- so they can get a quality job done, on budget, on schedule. That’s what they will learn in the all-day workshop on “Thinking Tactics” with Jean Moroney at the New York

(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 06, 2009 ) New York City - Businesses across New York City are reeling from layoffs and cutbacks. Owners, managers, engineers and other professionals who were already stretched tight, now have to get the job done with fewer employees and less money. But faced with tough questions, they can be pulled in multiple directions or caught in details. When that happens, they need help to concentrate, re-orient, and think through issues -- so they can get a quality job done, on budget, on schedule. That’s what they will learn in the all-day workshop on “Thinking Tactics” with Jean Moroney at the New York Seminar and Conference Center on Monday, February 23 (http://www.thinkingdirections.com/NYC09.htm).

In the morning, participants learn tactics to use when they feel like they need several hours of uninterrupted thinking time, but they just can’t clear that big a block. Plus they learn to combat overload, uncertainty, and floundering in their thinking. In the afternoon, participants get a mental toolkit for tackling big, amorphous projects that need to get done with limited amounts of time and money. The tactics help them make difficult time/money/quality tradeoffs and avoid perfectionism.

“In tough times, you can’t ‘throw money at the problem,’” said Jean Moroney, President of Thinking Directions. “Instead, you have to rely on your brains, and the brains of the other people in the company. But when you’re dealing with such difficult problems, it’s easy to get stumped. In Thinking Tactics, I teach exactly what to do when you hit mental blocks such as overload or uncertainty. I teach the tools that leverage your own expertise, so you can get more top-level work done with the same mental effort.”

The bottom line? Thinking Tactics helps the bottom line: “This workshop helped me deal with a problem that had been plaguing me for some time. Once I learned about the floundering scenarios, I had a major breakthrough that immediately saved me over $500!” said Francesco Moriconi, the owner of Fitness Analysis and Comprehensive Training.

Thinking Tactics will be held on Monday, February 23, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the NYC Seminar and Conference Center, 71 West 23rd St. New York, NY 10010. Cost: $375 per person (includes continental breakfast and pizza lunch). Pre-registration by February 17 is required to guarantee a seat.
