I asked Eileen how short sale services benefit the neighborhood, she replied, “When a home goes through foreclosure and the occupants are evicted, it often sits empty for months, sometimes during the winter, without the utilities on. Some empty homes are vandalized; many are boarded; all of them are eyesores to the neighborhood as well as being a danger to curious children and teenagers. When I successfully work a short sale, someone buys the home and it is not vacant for long.”

The interview concluded as Eileen explained how she helps the homeowner prevent a damaging foreclosure to be on their credit report by satisfying the lender with a short sale payoff. She also has the lender provide a document of written satisfaction to the homeowner, stating that the bank will not go after the homeowner for the deficiency.
