(EMAILWIRE.COM, December 11, 2008 ) Broadhead, WI - When you think of the Governor's Mansion you normally do not think about eggs in trees. But, that is exactly what is happening this holiday season at the Wisconsin Governor's Mansion in Madison, Wisconsin. As a "Something Special from Wisconsin" member, Joylene Reavis from Sugar Maple Emu Farm in Brodhead, has donated an emu egg Christmas ornament for the governor's tree. The sparkling 7" eggshell, decorated by Ms. Reavis, will be displayed on the "Made in Wisconsin" Christmas tree in the drawing room of the governor's residence.

Using a blown and sanitized emu eggshell, Joylene used paints and glitter on the naturally dark green egg to bring her farm logo to life. Gold braid, used as a border around the logo, turned this eggshell into a beautiful Christmas ornament

Joylene and her husband, Mike, own and operate Sugar Maple Emu Farm. Their farm is an 'egg to retail product' emu farm located just SW of Brodhead. Emus are noted for their healthy red meat, Omega rich oil, fine supple leather and unique double vane feathers. Emus, one of the largest living birds, lay a large, dark green egg that weighs from one to two pounds. These blown and sanitized eggshells lend themselves to beautiful artwork whether painted, carved or decorated.

Each December Wisconsin's Executive Residence hosts holiday tours, with decorated evergreen trees adorned with ornament from students, community members and businesses across the state. This Wisconsin tradition brings thousands of people to the Executive Residence each year.

This year, once again, Governor and Mrs. Doyle have chosen to make one of the trees "Made in Wisconsin" to highlight the products that make Wisconsin great and are a tribute to companies that Wisconsin residents are so proud to call their own. It is to these company's credit that Wisconsin's exports are up and the "Made in Wisconsin" label has come to mean the best products by the best workforce in the world.
