TPSA Service 50 Q3 2008 Results Surprisingly Strong
Oracle Tops List of Quarterly Performance Analysis of Fifty Most Influential Solution Providers
(EMAILWIRE.COM, December 06, 2008 ) SAN DIEGO, December 5, 2008 – The Technology Professional Services Association (TPSA) today announced results of its quarterly aggregation of the financial performance of The Service 50, fifty of the most influential technology solution providers in the marketplace.
Every quarter, TPSA analyzes the public financial data of these companies to understand trends and performance in the technology services industry. TPSA identifies the highest performing service businesses based on several factors, including margin efficiency, a measure of the ability of companies to convert service margin dollars to operating income. Based on this analysis of multiple factors, the top five performing companies in The Service 50 for the third quarter of 2008 were:
1. Oracle
2. TCS (Tata)
3. Infosys
4. Cisco
5. Satyam
In general, technology service providers fared remarkably well in Q3 2008. Margins increased four percent for pure services companies. In addition, average operating income was up three percent year-over-year across all service sectors. "Despite the beginning of a global downturn, companies in the Service 50 performed very well in Q3, especially the product oriented companies such as Cisco and Oracle. On average, the service businesses for product companies are performing better than they did one year ago. This fact will be critical if product sales slow this coming year." said Thomas Lah, executive director of TPSA and author of the Service Visions blog.
