MXL Introduces New Mic Mate USB Interface Adaptors for Sensor Monitoring over Internet
Special circuitry on the Mic Mate converts USB ports to a regulated 48V for various types of sensors and transducers.
(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 07, 2008 ) Marshall Electronics’ MXL Division offers universal pocket-sized USB interface adaptors, including the Mic Mate and Mic Mate Pro that convert the 5V USB port on any computer to 48V, which can be used to bias sensors and transducers for monitoring over the internet. Mic Mate USB adaptors easily interface with software for recording or transmission over the internet and connect to a PC or Mac through the USB port.
The Mic Mate Series comes in four configurations to suit different needs: Mic Mate Basic; Mic Mate Dynamic for non-biased sensors; Mic Mate Line-level; and Mic Mate Pro. Each uses the best of both analog and digital technology to adapt analog inputs to computers. Features include adjustable gain setting and a low noise analog front end with a fully balanced differential input. The Mic Mate has a robust metal housing for use in rough environments, and operating status is shown by a visible red LED on the top of the unit.
On the Mic Mate Basic, Mic Mate Dynamic, and Mic Mate Line-level, gain is controlled by a 3-position analog switch; Mic Mate Pro uses a variable gain knob. The digital section features a 16-bit Delta Sigma A/D converter with sampling rates of 44.1kHz and 48kHz. The Mic Mate features a 3-pin XLR female connector on the input, and the output is a USB connector.
Various input circuits are available to meet the user’s requirements for a compact field-ready device that can even handle engineering conferences over the internet with optional reflective electret table microphones.
MSRP: Mic Mate Basic ($49.95), Mic Mate Dynamic ($69.95), Mic Mate Line-level ($119.95); and Mic Mate Pro ($99.95).
