Young people have turned out in record numbers in primary contests and young people will be the margin of victory in Costa Mesa's City Council race. The primary results prove what younger voters have been saying for years - "when you talk to young people and target them in your campaigns, they turn out to vote."

Council Member Katrina Foley has a record of reaching out to and including the youth of our community in local government. She started the Youth in Government program, and has encouraged and supported more entertainment venues for young people to gather.

During this election, Katrina Foley has made a concerted effort to reach out to younger voters in places where they play and hang out. Katrina Foley is proud to have a growing team of young voters and volunteers involved in her re-election.

The Chronic Cantina owners understand that younger voters care about their community too. That is why they have a record of hosting very successful charitable events throughout the summer with their outdoor concert series. Held at the famous Triangle Square (1870 Harbor Boulevard, Costa Mesa, CA), Chronic Cantina hosted six Outdoor Charity Concert events this summer to benefit local community non-profit organizations. They have raised money and gained support for numerous organizations, including, Music Relief that works to help disaster victims, Life Rolls On that encourages those with spinal cord injuries to keep living, Surfrider Foundation that helps protect our coastline, and OC Spectrum Kids, that helps raise money for scholarship for autistic students, just to name a few. Council Member Foley has been a big supporter and kicked off several of these concert events. "It's a great model for doing good work while having fun," said Katrina Foley.

In their continuing efforts to reach out to the twenty-something voters, Council Member Katrina Foley and Chronic Cantina have joined forces for a Friends for Foley fundraiser.
