Tristan Taormino and Penny Flame to Explore

Tristan Taormino, Vivid Entertainment's award-winning contract director, announced today that she is launching a new reality-based series for the company called "Rough Sex." "Rough Sex" that will feature couples living out their most erotic fantasies.

(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 18, 2008 ) LOS ANGELES – Tristan Taormino, Vivid Entertainment's award-winning contract director, announced today that she is launching a new reality-based series for the company called "Rough Sex." "Rough Sex" that will feature couples living out their most erotic fantasies.

Award-winning director Tristan Taormino will direct the first film in the series and current plans call for the entire series to be helmed exclusively by women.

"We think that both men and women will be very receptive to films that depict rough sex from a woman's point of view," Taormino said. "I want to showcase the complexities of fantasies where people explore their limits and play on the edge."

Taormino said the idea for the series came from recent public discussions about the portrayal of rough sex in "gonzo" movies.
The problem isn't with the depiction of hardcore sex itself; it's about sex that is seen as one-sided, degrading and hostile. Many women love rough sex and these films will give us a chance to present their desires from their perspective."

The scenes will be a collaborative effort between the director and performers who will have a lot of creative input in the process. In addition, performers will be interviewed on camera about why they like rough sex and how they establish trust and set boundaries with their partners.

To introduce the series, Taormino will executive produce "Penny Flame's Expert Guide to Rough Sex" with performer Penny Flame for Vivid-Ed, Vivid's sex education line. It will be the first instructional video of its kind to examine how to play rough and do it safely. It will cover a range of controversial topics including dominant/submissive role play, spanking, slapping, hair pulling, and even choking.

Taormino and Flame plan to hold an open casting call for the innovative video and the series. "We are looking for smart, articulate performers who truly enjoy rough sex. Not only do we want people who are passionate about it, but we want them to be able to speak honestly and thoughtfully about "why" they do it and what they get out of it," says Flame. Details about the open call will be released next month.

"I am really excited about both Penny's Vivid-Ed title, which will be her second sex ed guide, and the new 'Rough Sex' series," says Taormino.

She adds, "Rough sex can be psychologically-charged and really nasty, but it can also be consensual and deeply intimate. I think people will see a sensually charged difference with a woman behind the camera."
