Washington Redskin Demetric Evans Teams up with Ashley Tutors to Tackle Education
Evans to Talk About the Importance of Learning at the JCC of Greater Washington
(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 13, 2008 ) MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. – Washington Redskins veteran defensive lineman, #92, Demetric Evans is appearing at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington on Saturday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. Hosted by Ashley Tutors, Evans will highlight the value of education to get kids excited about learning.
Ashley Tutors has invited Evans to talk about the role education has played in his life. Evans will then read a book at the JCC’s “Children’s Night Out,” followed by a question and answer session, photos and autographs. Please log onto the JCC web site http://jccgw.org/ for more information or to make reservations.
“At Ashley Tutors we find ways to make learning fun for kids because the more they enjoy it, the more they will want to learn,” said Josh Chernikoff, a lifelong Montgomery County resident and the Ashley Tutors team member in charge of finding the most qualified educators. “Demetric is just the person we want to be a member of our tutoring team – enthusiastic and energetic about learning and a positive role model.”
Evans has been a solid performer on the Redskins defensive line playing in 80 games and recording 159 tackles. Now he is tackling education.
“My education from elementary school through college at the University of Georgia has played a vital role in my life,” said Evans. “I want to encourage kids to learn all they can, and help them understand that education is the key that will unlock all their dreams.”
Beyond these exciting events on April 12, Ashley Tutors and Evans are also uniting to create the 92 for A’s program. This program will reward Ashley Tutors’ students who work hard to achieve academic success. Every student who gets one “A” or “O” (Outstanding) will get a mini football signed by Evans. Also, for every “A” or “O” its students earn, Ashley Tutors will make a donation to Evans’ charity 92 Blessings which was recently established to help 92 families, and more specifically, single parents during times of need.
Hosted by Ashley Tutors, Evans will also make appearances at Tree Top Kids earlier in the day on April 12th. Please join the Ashley Tutors team and Evans at Tree Top Kids at noon at their Fairfax store: Fairfax Corner 11895 Grand Commons Avenue Fairfax, VA 22030 (703) 815-2121.
