(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 05, 2008 ) Submarina Inc., a 30-year-old, fast-casual restaurant franchise chain based in San Diego County, California has announced a 206-store contract to move into the Tampa and Orlando, Florida markets. The sub sandwich chain, with 60 units – in California, Arizona and Tennessee – inked the Area Development Agreement to build the stores within 10 years. The deal is one of many in Submarina’s national expansion plans that started last year.

The stores are being developed by Area Developers David Hundley and Rita McKenna, who expect to open the first store in March.

“David and Rita have tremendous real estate and marketing knowledge to expand our franchise operation into this market,” said Chairman and CEO Jeff Warfield. Hundley spent more than 12 years as a Marine pilot in Viet Nam, where he earned a Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, and numerous other individual and unit citations. “He is one of the most strategic and diligent individuals I know, and working alongside Rita, their team will bring strength to the Submarina franchise.”

Immediate expansion plans are also underway in Texas, Oregon, Washington, Michigan, Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia.
