Cognex Corporation caters to these needs of manufacturing and production companies that require high degree of skills, dexterity and uninterrupted work process. Cognex Corporation's Modular Vision Systems division designs, develops, manufactures, and markets modular vision systems that are used to automate the manufacture of discrete items, such as semiconductor chips, cellular phones, and light bulbs, by locating, identifying, inspecting, and measuring them during the manufacturing process. The Company's Surface Inspection Systems division designs, develops, manufactures, and markets surface inspection vision systems that are used to inspect the surfaces of materials processed in a continuous fashion, such as paper, metals, plastics, and non-wovens. Recently, Cognex said its sales to the surface inspection market rose to $12 million, while sales to the factory automation market grew to $40 million.
