LA Dance Project Holds Annual GALA
Co-chairs for the event were Natalie Portman and Reese Witherspoon
(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 18, 2019 ) The LA Dance Project’s annual GALA was held at Hauser and Wirth Gallery in Los Angeles. Co-chairs for the event were well-known actors, Natalie Portman and Reese Witherspoon. The artistic venue was the perfect setting for the evening. In the past 27 years, Hauser and Wirth has expanded to include outposts in Hong Kong, London, New York, and St. Moritz. The LA location occupies a former flour mill in the downtown Arts District.
The LA Dance Project (LADP) is a platform for the development, creation, support, and presentation of world-class dance in Los Angeles. Comprised of an internationally acclaimed dance company, a performance space in L.A.’s Arts District, and a program of media initiatives, LADP seeks to foster dance-centered artistic collaborations across all disciplines, cultures, and communities in Los Angeles and around the globe.
The LA Dance Project Company is comprised of twelve full-time dancers based in Los Angeles and is led by Artistic Director, Benjamin Millepied along with Associate Artistic Director, Sebastien Marcovici. The LADP Company rehearses and performs at LA Dance Project Studios: 2245.
Since its founding, the LADP company has performed and conducted master classes at prestigious venues and festivals in approximately 100 cities around the world, including Holland, Shanghai, Beijing, and Dubai. In the US, the company has performed at eminent venues including The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, New York City Center and the Vail Dance Festival. In its home city of Los Angeles the company has performed at The Music Center’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, MOCA, Union Station, and The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.
The GALA is LADP’s most important fundraising effort of the year accounting for one-third of all annual private donations. Its success is critical - from keeping the lights on to determining the number of collaborations and commissions, educational programming, residencies, and LA performances with affordable ticket prices.
Step and Repeat LA created a custom 20’ seamless fabric media wall for this special evening. In addition, they provided three light rentals and a 4’ x 12’ press riser which they also installed.
Step and Repeat LA offers media walls, hedge walls with custom 3-D lettering and many other services and products including 12 carpet colors, a variety of stands, studio-quality lighting, life size cut-outs and much more. They also will deliver, set up and take down media walls, backdrops, and red-carpet displays in the Los Angeles area.
