The Linux Magazine list is comprised of the top 20 companies and technologies that the Linux Magazine editors feel will have the biggest impact on the technology industry in the coming year.

(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 16, 2008 ) LONDON—January 16, 2007 — Alfresco Software today announced it has been named one of Linux Magazine’s Top 20 Companies to Watch in 2008. The Linux Magazine list is comprised of the top 20 companies and technologies that the Linux Magazine editors feel will have the biggest impact on the technology industry in the coming year.

To be chosen as one of the Top 20, all companies had to not only be members of the Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) community, but they also had to have had a major impact or made a major contribution to the community in 2007. The editors of Linux Magazine Alfresco was recognized for its new enterprise social computing platform release, which includes integration with Facebook. compiled the list after conferring with industry experts, conducting a reader poll, as well as using their own industry observations.

“Alfresco is a very nice collaboration platform alternative to being locking into Microsoft SharePoint,” said Joe Brockmeier, Editor of Linux Magazine, “and with the added Facebook integration, Alfresco is sure to gain more visibility in 2008.”

Alfresco recently announced the integration of Alfresco with Facebook to deliver a platform for developing content-centric applications. This integration makes publishing content to Facebook as controlled and effective as publishing to a corporate Web site. The Alfresco Enterprise Content Network application, which is built on this framework, enables collaboration and makes secure, audited, sharing of content in Facebook as simple as sharing a photo.
