www.tradewaste.org supporting BinSafe, Locking Down Wheelie Bin Crime

/EIN Presswire/ Tradewaste.org are proud to be backing www.binsafe.org, helping to reduce wheelie bin crime

When Steve Thompson received an enquiry from a council about how to secure a wheelie bin, he didn't think 6 months that later he would be dealing with national and international interest.

As Steve looked into things in more detail, research that he had done over the last year on wheelie bin crime, showed that there was a major problem across the UK.

"I realised that wheelie bin crime is a growing problem and we became more determined to find a solution", explained Steve. "Wherever we have taken our prototype, we've received the most amazing positive response. We've already applied for the patent and I'm getting excited about the potential now".

Steve's invention prevents unauthorised access to both domestic and commercial wheelie bins due to a clever but simple locking device.

The Binsafe products have received the Fenland Enterprise Business Award for Creative Innovation of the year. Steve said this was a very proud moment when he received the award.

Binsafe officially launched the new Secure Wheelie Bin Storage Solutions at the RWM show at Birmingham's NEC, resulting in over 70 enquiries and a wide interest from Councils, NHS, schools, Faculties Management Companies, small and large business owners, suppliers and major manufactures in the UK and Europe.

Steve has been invited to the "Inside Government Tackling Environmental Crime" seminar in Westminster, London. Wheelie bin crime costs the tax payer millions of pounds each year. This could be a great opportunity for Steve and the Binsafe products.

"Arson is another issue that our products can help reduce and we've already had them tested by the Arson Task Force. BinSafe are working in partnership with the Cambs Arson Task Force and are now starting a pilot with the Binsafe range across the Peterborough area to help prevent the increase of wheelie bin crime, to help local businesses and the community"

"We've supplied a local butcher who had major problems for over a year with theft of meat and pastries from his bin ever day. His main concern was that he was liable, even if someone was stealing from his bin, for the environmental issues that this was causing as waste was left emptied all over the place" Steve said. "from the first day the Binsafe frame was fitted it has been a success and has all stopped now". Its made things safer and cleaner for local residents and now the local butcher has saved over £500 on clean up cost alone, he is very pleased and has no more stress with his bin problems.

Steve says that businesses are prime targets for wheelie bin crime, using the bin to access property, theft of bins, scavenging, arson attacks, fly tipping and anti social behaviour. Clean up cost can go into hundreds of pounds a year, if not more. An arson attack could cost thousands of pounds and the business then would not be able to trade as normal, or would not even recover for an Arson attack. The secure wheelie bin storage solutions will help businesses to prevent wheelie bin crime. The great news is for business owners, they can save up to 100% Tax Relief on BinSafe products. Business owners securing their business and property, that's PRICELESS.

Over the coming weeks, Steve is putting trails into the Sainsbury's and King's Lynn Borough Council.

The business will really start to grow. "We've got this far and it's been hard work. I'm delighted with the way things have gone and we've got a massive opportunity ahead of us."

<DataContent><![CDATA[(EMAILWIRE.COM, November 13, 2009 ) Boca Raton, FL --- Since 1989, Trees for the Future has been helping communities around the world plant trees. Through seed distribution, agroforestry training, and their country programs, they have empowered rural groups to restore tree cover to their lands. Planting trees protects the environment and helps to preserve traditional livelihoods and cultures for generations.
Their mission and history demonstrate how dedicated they are to sustainable agroforestry.
Trees for the Future is an agroforestry resource center helping people in developing countries improve their rural livelihoods through the introduction of environmentally sustainable land management projects focused on beneficial tree planting. Most communities around the world recognize that they need to plant trees on their degraded lands if they are to improve their lives. They provide technical knowledge on agroforestry and sustainable development, along with planting materials so that communitites can return their degraded lands and struggling farms back to sustainable production. Beneficial trees minimize soil erosion, supply forage for animals, and provide a source of fuelwood, but planting trees is difficult when the canopy has disappeared, topsoil has been eroded, and the climate and growing conditions have changed. Through their network of technicians, volunteers, and community leaders world-wide, their program reaches remote areas and gives local people the knowledge and ability to rehabilitate their environment. Since 1988, Trees for the Future has helped thousands of communities in Central America, Africa, and Asia improve their livelihoods and their environment by planting nearly 65 million trees. Trees for the Future calculates that these trees remove over one and a half million tons of CO2 from the atmosphere each year. They are also active locally, educating students and communities about global issues, their role in the environment, and energy efficiency.

Trucking and Logistics Consulting Firm, Ahern & Associates Facilitates Additional Agent Location For Network F.O.B.

Rock Hill, SC based Tandem Transport Co., Inc. becomes the 84th agent location overall for Network F.O.B. and the sixth agent sign on as a result of Ahern & Associates' efforts.

/EIN Presswire/ Phoenix, AZ November 2, 2009— Rapidly growing shipping and logistics provider Network F.O.B., a non-asset based, cross country network of independent freight agents, continues their expansion efforts by signing on Tandem Transport Co., Inc. as its newest agent location. As a result, Tim Taylor, president of the Eagan, MN based company expects to further enhance their level of service and shipping capabilities throughout the south eastern part of the country.

Securing their latest agent sign on is Andy Ahern of the transportation and logistics consulting firm, Ahern & Associates. Drawing upon decades of experience within the trucking and logistics acquisition industries, Ahern & Associates was able to present Network F.O.B. with an additional agent sign on for the sixth time in less than three years.

Andy Ahern, CEO of Ahern & Associates explains, "We've had a long standing relationship with Network F.O.B. and are pleased to be considered a trusted partner of theirs that they can count on to aid them in their expansion efforts."

Taylor explains why they continue to call upon Ahern & Associates, "Andy Ahern is unstoppable—his firm is extremely competent and are very determined to get deals done; they excel at seeking out agents that properly align with our business model."

By offering very attractive agent deals and capitalizing upon the economic hinderers effecting their competition as a result of the recession, Network F.O.B. plans to continue expanding their network well into 2010.

What is www.wastedirectory.us

/EIN Presswire/ www.wastedirectory.us is to be the internet industry portal for the waste & recycling industry. The site will make a definitive connection between waste & recycling companies, trade organizations, equipment vendors, related service vendors as well as "end users" from a commercial and residential standpoint. With the internet increasing in popularity in our lives, we feel the time has come for the industry to make positive, adaptable changes. We need to recognize and embrace the fact that the internet is here to stay and these changes need to happen to embrace this ever-popular and growing platform for research of and in many cases the purchase of waste & recycling equipment and services in the world. The amount of information is simply getting to dense in content and the need for a site to bring "reliable, quality, easy-to-find" information is apparent.

How will the connection be made between the waste & recycling companies, trade organizations, equipment vendors, related service vendors as well as "end users" from a commercial and residential standpoint? How will the site benefit each party?

Looking at the current state of the content out there on the internet, many manufacturers and service providers currently have their own sites with their own content promoting their own goods and services. While this is important individually to each company, it leaves some confusion in the end user's minds as to where to go to get wholesome and reliable information. Everyone's current sites are only as good as the traffic driven to it and the content each site holds. How does each individual site ensure they are seeing as much internet traffic as they should be? Many sites do not understand the need to be content driven. Wastedirectory.us will be the largest internet site for content on waste & recycling information in the USA…a virtual encyclopedia of the waste & recycling industry. This will allow us to become the #1 source for end users on the internet when doing research on waste & recycling equipment and services and therefore becoming a popular place for helping such end users make purchasing decisions on their needs. We intend to work with each manufacturer for the content and work with each local service to ensure that the information they seek on the internet, becomes easy to find. We also feel that due to the content of the site, we will likely become the first option when completing an internet search to the point where depending on the size of your organization, advertising dollars spent on the internet may be a wiser choice to spend with wastedirectory.us as opposed to other avenues. No longer does anyone need to worry about advertising dollars spent on the internet, wastedirectory.us can put that worry to rest and guarantee return for your internet advertising dollar and bring the internet customers into a world where the industry is on a level playing field.

How will wastedirectory.us connect the industry internally?

Another big mission for wastedirectory.us is to become not just the place for end users, but for industry professionals. We intend to be the meeting place for the industry. Everyone in the world, from manufacturer to dealer can get a free listing on wastedirectory.us…we feel the time has come for the internal disconnect the industry currently has needs to be eliminated. The waste & recycling industry will always be around and is essential to the world and is becoming more and more important in everyone's daily lives. This industry, like many others, can benefit by having a unified voice.

Wastedirectory.us intends to:

Promote the value and virtue of the industry internally and to end users

Encourage more people to get involved in the industry and help industry people understand that their voice can be heard

Become a single platform where industry professionals can share ideas and seek employment

Provide the arm of assistance to equipment and service providers who currently do not have an internet presence or understand what they need to do to adapt to the ever changing marketplace to stay in business and sustain growth

Provide a fair platform for evaluation and comparison of manufacturer's products

Cross-promote the industry to other industry platforms to emphasize the importance of waste & recycling on the world

Bring the "value" back to the industry by connecting with end users in a manner that depicts the industry in the light it should be-important to daily life.

Transportation Software From Ahern & Associates Helps McKelvey Trucking Cut Costs, Assess Profitability

McKelvey Trucking markedly improves profitability when using Financial I.Q. trucking software to take the guesswork out of lane analysis.

/EIN Presswire/ Phoenix, AZ, October 12, 2009—Fluctuating fuel costs, declining freight rates, increasing insurance requirements and escalating government regulations are all factors that make profitability assessment within the trucking industry critical to a trucking company's survival. Recognizing the importance of customer rate profitability and staying abreast of current technologies is what has helped make McKelvey Trucking an industry leader for over fifty years.

Hoping to improve overall profitability when assessing potential and current customers, Dale Fink, CEO of McKelvey Trucking called on long time trucking analyst; Andy Ahern of Ahern & Associates for a solution. Fink found that solution in Financial I.Q.

Financial I.Q. transportation software is a windows based application which works directly off of the company's actual financial statements to provide the user with keen insight on individual loads, shipping points, lanes, rates for bids, customers, round trips and equipment. When analyzing these individual segments, Financial I.Q. generates a profit and loss statement that accurately details total revenues, total expenses, bottom line profit, profit percentages and operating ratios.

In addition, Financial I.Q. has an outstanding "what if analysis" capability for measuring the bottom line effect of any changes in rates, costs, productivity, miles per gallon and business volume.
Fink and McKelvey Trucking regularly use Financial I.Q. to perform lane analysis when considering placement of a potential customer and to determine profitability. Fink explains, "Financial I.Q. gives us accurate analysis when we run a current or prospective customer through certain lanes; we can see if it's profitable or not, then we can make adjustments." Fink explains how they are able to make those adjustments, "It (Financial I.Q.) also gives us a handle on equipment by assisting us in determining who we put on certain loads; depending on the analysis, the software helps us decide whether we use an owner-operator or a company truck."

Mark Gwynn, VP of McKelvey Trucking oversees the operation of Financial I.Q. and knows its effects first hand. "Financial I.Q uses our actual company data to help us gain a better understanding of what types of costs are associated with our customers' lanes and gives us the ability to rate accordingly—it's a tremendous tool which has made a real impact to our bottom line."

Financial I.Q. is profitability software customizable for all sizes of truckload, LTL and freight broker firms; a free demonstration can be found at http://www.ahern-ltd.com/offers/financialiq .

SunPods rolls out new transportable, modular Solar Power platform for Agricultural use, water distribution, irrigation, wells and remote sites

San Jose, CA - October 8, 2009 -- SunPods, creator of SunPods Solar Smart Technology Systems™ unveiled their SP-500 SunPods Solar Agriculture & Remote Site Power Systems™ today. Designed to provide solar power for on-grid and off-grid agricultural processing, wells, irrigation and water distribution systems. The SunPod SP-500 meets the remote site power needs for navigation systems, telecommunications, oil and gas, and security applications for Homeland Security and the Military.

Built with SunPods' advanced Solar Smart Technologies and designed as a solar appliance, the SunPods SP-500 is pre-engineered, pre-manufactured, and pre-tested in a rigorous factory setting to ensure optimal performance and delivered from our factory to your project, on your schedule, requiring minimal site preparation and no onsite assembly. SunPods are ready to interconnect and power up on delivery, requiring only an electrician to make the connections.

The transportable SunPods SP-500 Solar Agriculture & Remote Site Power Systems are engineered for fast and simple installations over most land and concrete surfaces, eliminating much of the cost, scheduling and performance uncertainties associated with current traditional on-site built solar installation systems.

The SunPods SP-500 power platform is specifically engineered for grid connected or off-grid agriculture power on demand solutions for farms, ranches and wineries needed for product processing, center-pivot irrigation systems, water irrigation, water distribution, water processing and well water pumping. At off-the-grid remote locations, the SunPods SP-500 power system is a simple, cost effective solar power solution to replace fuel powered Genset power sources and weekly fuel costs.

Municipal water agencies can utilize the SunPods SP-500 for pumping water at water towers, wastewater and water purification plants, which will reduce electrical cost and provide an emergency power back-up system. Other SunPods SP-500 applications include remote site installations for farm and ranch water supplies, oil, gas, telecommunications, satellite, micro-wave towers and commercial and residential buildings affected by unreliable grid power or remotely located from grid connected electrical power.

The SunPods SP-500 Solar Agriculture & Remote Site Power Systems are rapid deployment, integrated solar power solutions, engineered for both grid-tied and off-grid project installations requiring 110V-480V, 50Hz/60Hz AC or 12/24/48VDC, scalable from 2.4-kw units to mega-watt size.

<DataContent><![CDATA[(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 02, 2009 ) ST. LOUIS -- A new National Corn Growers Association video on the subject of increasing sustainability in agriculture will make its debut Oct. 3, on the television program This Week in Agribusiness. The short video features family farmers telling the story of how better management and modern technology spells good news for both consumers and the environment.

“The only thing as important as growing a crop and getting a fair price is doing so in a way that is socially responsible and assures opportunities for the next generation of farmers and consumers,” said Darrin Ihnen, NCGA president and a corn grower in Hurley, S.D.

Every day on planet Earth we grow by over 200,000 people. That is 150 new people every minute. In the next 40 years our global population will exceed 9 billion people, up from 6.7 billion people today. Luckily, family farmers are making rapid progress toward meeting the needs of a growing world and doing it with the environment in mind.

“Sustainability isn’t some buzz word or novelty for a corn grower. We are living this every day and trying to do a better job with each crop we grow,” Ihnen said.

This Week in Agribusiness will air the video on Direct TV Channel 345 (RFD-TV) and Dish Network Channel 231 (RFD-TV) at 7 a.m. CDT Saturday, Oct. 3; 5 a.m. and 8 p.m. CDT Sunday, Oct. 4; and 8 a.m. CDT Monday, Oct. 5. It also airs on 20 TV stations in the Midwest and Great Plains regions. For details, see http://www.agbizweek.com.

You can also view the video online at: http://ncga.com/sustainability.

Founded in 1957, the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) represents approximately 36,000 dues-paying corn growers and the interests of more than 300,000 farmers who contribute through corn checkoff programs in their states. NCGA and its 48 affiliated state associations and checkoff organizations work together.

<DataContent><![CDATA[(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 01, 2009 ) Vienna, Va. — The apple harvest is in full swing. Now is a great time to make apples—in any form—a part of your daily diet. From cider or juice to sauce or fresh apples, the fall harvest presents the perfect opportunity to include more apples and apple products into your daily routine. Celebrate the changing of the season with America’s favorite homegrown fruit—apples!

Industry News
The latest U.S. apple industry forecast estimates that this year’s total crop will be roughly 241 million bushels of apples. That is equivalent to about 113 apples per person and is 4% larger than last year’s crop.

“This year’s crop is abundant. With so many tasty, convenient and affordable ways to use apples, this is going to be a great year for apples and apple consumers,” says Allison Parker MS, RD, Director of Consumer Health and Education for the US Apple Association.

New Ideas for this Season’s Crop
New and old varieties can be found at your nearest grocery store or farmers market for an incredible value. Are you a tart and crunchy apple fan? Or do you favor sweet and juicy varieties? No matter what your taste buds crave there is bound to be a variety that will satisfy you. Here’s a list of the top 10 varieties from across the nation:
1. Red Delicious - sweet, crispy and juicy; great for a snack or tossed in a salad.
2. Golden Delicious - mellow and sweet; a wonderful pie apple and also good in a salad.
3. Gala - crispy, juicy, very sweet; good for snacking or for applesauce.
4. Granny Smith - green flesh, very tart flavor; best for baking and pies.
5. Fuji - sweet flavor and firmness; try it in a salad, for sauce or just to snack on.
6. McIntosh - juicy, tangy, and tart with a tender, white flesh; a great applesauce apple.
7. Rome - mildly tart apple; primarily used for cooking.
8. Empire - crisp, juicy with a delightful sweet-tart flavor and creamy white flesh; a well known snacking apple.
9. Idared - tangy flavor and firm texture; good for snacking and baking.
10.Braeburn - crisp, juicy with a rich, spicy-sweet flavor; great for baking and on salads.

Fresh apples make a convenient, nutrient-rich, on-the-go snack. But did you know apples and apple products can be a great accompaniment to the center of your plate? This versatile fruit can be chopped up and tossed into salads, stir-fry’s, casseroles, and of course be served as a sweet, after-dinner treat. Make sure to check out the US Apple Association website for more recipe ideas and tips, and stay tuned for more as we move into the holiday season.

Healthy to the Core
The old saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” continues to hold true. Apples are packed with soluble fiber and have high water content—both of which help keep you fuller, longer and may help you maintain a healthy weight. In addition, fiber helps promote heart health, decrease your risk for developing cancer and aid in good digestion. Furthermore, apples are a significant source of boron in the diet; a mineral important for bone health.

Want more “a-peeling” apple health benefits? Recent apple research out of Cornell University suggests that apples (especially the peel) contain powerful, naturally-occurring substances called phytochemicals that help inhibit breast cancer formation1. Another recently published study from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell indicates that the regular consumption of apple juice helps keep our minds sharp and may even delay the onset of Alzheimer’s disease2.

<DataContent><![CDATA[(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 30, 2009 ) Berlin, PA - This year’s national convention for the American Emu Association was held in Orlando, FL. I. Michael Eppley who resides near Berlin, PA, is currently serving his third year on the American Emu Association board of directors and was re- elected president of the association during their annual Board of Directors meeting in July.

Emu may seem like an unusual livestock for the Keystone state; but Eppley, president of the Pennsylvania Emu Farmers Association (PEFA) is quick to point out that for most small-scale farms, mainstream agriculture is not cost effective. When looking for an alternative, many find emu farming attractive. “The birds are docile, quiet, easy to raise and they produce a number of marketable end products,” said Eppley. “Here in Pennsylvania many of our emu farms have evolved into integrated farming operations. They raise the birds, arrange for processing and then either sell the raw products or they have those raw products turned into end products which they sell.” Emu co-products include the fat which is turned into health and beauty products, the feathers and hide that are used in the fashion industry. Emu eggshells are sought after by egg artists and crafters. Fresh emu eggs are available seasonably. According to USDA there are over a hundred emu farms scattered across Pennsylvania.

PEFA is a state affiliate of the American Emu Association, a national organization that supports the emu industry by promoting research and public awareness of emu products.

Emu meat and emu oil products can be mail-ordered from individual producers or found at retail in specialty food stores, health food stores and retail establishments around Pennsylvania.

<DataContent><![CDATA[(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 30, 2009 ) West Springfield MA - For many New Englanders the Eastern States Exposition or “Big E” heralds the turn of seasons as it places the bounty of early autumn on display. This is New England's largest fair. Top name entertainment, major exhibits, history and agriculture, animals, rides, shopping, crafts, a daily parade and foods from around the world for 17 glorious days - September 17th – October 4th.

Holding strongly to its agricultural roots livestock still takes front stage for many of the scheduled events. Dairy judging, milking contests, oxen-pulls, sheep, poultry and horse shows and dog herding demonstrations abound. But over the last few years a new animal has been infiltrating New England agriculture – the Emu. And while you may not catch site of the birds themselves you will have the opportunity to learn a bit more about them and sample their products from some of the exhibitors.

Vermont Prime Emu Producers (VPEP) staffs a booth in the Vermont building where you can purchase a large assortment of emu oil products for health and beauty. The booth is manned by friends and family of the 4 farms which banded together to form VPEP. Representatives from Riverside Emus, Emus of Vermont, Bob-O-Link Farm, and Neshobe Farm are always happy to talk about the birds and emu farming. Just be warned their products have become so popular that it is not uncommon for a long line to form before their booth.

In the Massachusetts Building, the Chili Station, producers of award winning chili have specially crafted a new chili for this year – Emu Chili. Proprietor Jeff Belkin says that he is very “pleased with the taste of this new recipe and loves the heart healthy nature of the meat”. The ground emu comes from Songline Emu Farm of Gill MA.

On Massachusetts day, Thursday, Sept 24th, the Massachusetts Department of Agriculture will be giving awards to the winners of the 2010 Agricultural Calendar photo contest. 12 winning photos have been selected to be displayed in a beautiful calendar which represents the vitality and diversity of the Commonwealth’s farms, crops and products throughout the seasons.

One of the winning photos was taken by Dee Dee Mares of Songline Emu Farm in Gill MA showing 2 adorable emu chicks and an emerald green egg. Calendars will be available for sale inside the Massachusetts building.

So attend the fair, enjoy the beauty of this season and keep an eye out for the emus.
